The town of Babylon in Suffolk County, New York, has a rather famous village linked to it named Amityville. In 1977 the publication of a book by Jay Anson suddenly put this sparsely populated and peaceful area of New York on the map.
Anson’s book, The Amityville Horror, took the world by storm and has been adapted into a series of films made between 1979 and 2015.
It all kicked off in November of 1974 when Ronald DeFeo, Jr. decided to shoot and kill all of his family at 112 Ocean Avenue.
Just over a year later, in December 1975, George and Kathy Lutz were taken enough by the house to move in with three kids in tow. Their stay at 112 Ocean Avenue lasted less than 29 days…
I’ve always been fascinated by all the paranormal events linked to this dark and tragic house. I can remember watching the original movie for the first time when I was about 10 years old.
It was a frightening enough movie, especially at the age of ten, but at the time I was not aware that it was based on a true story.
It was up to my mother to fill me in on the true events the next day – I can remember feeling considerably freaked out for the remainder of the week!
The Real Amityville Horror – (Paranormal Documentary)
As you can imagine I was completely spoiled for choice when I was looking for an Amityville documentary to include on this site.
I came across so many I might well jump back to this subject at some point in the future and include another one on here!
I sat through several offerings on YouTube before I came across ‘The Real Amityville Horror – (Paranormal Documentary)’ we’ve included above.
In my humble opinion I think it is probably the best choice on YouTube at the moment so there’s a big shout out to ParaSpirits who released this on their channel.
I hope you enjoy the viewing as much as I did…
